A 34-year-old man going through a divorce has been arrested for attempting to hire someone to kill his soon-to-be ex-wife. The Connecticut divorce was going to be finalized three days after the man’s arrest. Connecticut Divorce Lawyer

The suspect had been charged in a domestic violence dispute in March. He had violated a court order protecting his 33-year-old wife and was charged with endangering a minor, which may have been one of two his children. He posted a $10,000 bond to be released for these charges.

Three months later, the 34-year-old was supposedly searching for a hit man to kill his wife. Police caught wind of the husband’s intentions, and an undercover officer pretending to be a hired gunman contacted the defendant. The undercover officer met with the man in a McDonald’s parking lot around 1 a.m. on a recent Friday. Thirty minutes later, the husband had been arrested.

During those 30 minutes, the conversation was being recorded. Other officers were watching over the meeting in case something went wrong. The 34-year-old told the undercover officer many details about his 33-year-old wife, including her work address, work schedule and a physical description of her. The two negotiated payment after the officer requested $800 for a weapon. After the meeting ended, the husband was apprehended.

The couple has two children and was going through a particularly difficult divorce. The man’s lawyer argued for a $150,000 bond, but the judge cited his previous offense in March and set bail at $1 million.

This case, while extreme, shows how difficult divorce can be for some people. There are many decisions that need to be made during a divorce, and, at a time when emotions are running high, it can be difficult for former spouses to come to an agreement.
